Nederland is located directly west of Boulder in the foothills at an elevation of approximately 8,228 ft. above sea level. The landscape of Nederland is centered by Barker Reservoir. Eldora Ski Resort is only minutes west by automobile. The Peak to Peak Highway heading north out of Nederland is a popular drive for spectators wishing to see aspen trees changing colors in the fall. Along this same stretch of road, Brainard Lake Recreation Area is the most popular destination on the Boulder Ranger District with stunning views of the Indian Peaks Wilderness. Nederland is a popular destination for downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snow-shoeing, mountain biking and hiking. Residents of Nederland receive a free EcoPass for the RTD bus transportation system. The RTD bus system travels from Boulder to Nederland and the Eldora Ski Resort.
